St Albans

A Hertfordshire city, St Albans (/ˈɔːlbənz/) is the urban area that is major in the St Albans District and City. St Peter Rural, St Michael Rural, reduced St Stephen, and Sandridge Rural became part in 1894 of Rural District of St Albans, include parishes that were formed outside the borough.

One of the skateparks indoors that is finest and oldest, Heathlands Drive's Pioneer Skatepark, is in St Albans, next to the fire station that is former. Founded in 2005, with structured and fun classes that are recreational as well as a professionally managed competitive squad, St Albans Gymnastics Club provides the St Albans area. A further education college, a campus of Oaklands College is in Smallford in St Albans. As the most expensive square on UK Here and Now Edition Monopoly board, having won an internet vote, St Albans replaced Mayfair in September 2007.

The "Slade Prison" gate that is main in the Porridge sitcom, the BBC used in Victoria Street, the former St Albans Prison Main Gate House. On the old Roman road of Watling Street, St Albans was the first town for travellers heading north, and it became the Roman city of Verulamium. To the east of W clingacaester, the medieval town grew where the St Albans Abbey was founded in 793 by Ulsinus.
